WHO: Indonesia Successfully Tap Bird Flu Case



World Health Organization (WHO) to appreciate the efforts of the government through the Ministry of Health in an effort to overcome the infection of H5N1 pandemic or bird flu in 2009 and then.

It was mentioned by the WHO representative Dr Stephan Jost, in Indonesia seminar titled Preparing for Pandemic Influenza held at Hotel Le Meridien, Jalan Jenderal Sudirman, South Jakarta, Tuesday (9/2/2010).

"Indonesia is in a good position," said Dr Stephan Jost.

EU Ambassador Julian Wilson who was also present along with Director General of the Ministry of Health Prof. P2PL Tjandra Yoga Aditama states, INSPAI program, it has helped substantially in Indonesia infection control training for the 100 hospitals in penaggulangan bird flu.

"So far the new province of West Kalimantan, which is free from bird flu," said Tjandra added.

In the event, Stephan Jost and Julian Wilson also gave assistance to Indonesia in the form of an ambulance unit and 22 scholarships for 48 students for training epidemoligy field.
